Escuela Verde Presentation Night

"Coming in I was kind of skeptical. One room? I didn't know if I could do this," says Ramon Rivera, a Junior at Escuela Verde. "the advisors are ecstatic to teach you in the morning. I wouldn't pick anywhere else for school right now."

Ramon is one of 70 kids attending Escuela Verde, a public charter school authorized by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, operated by TransCenter for Youth. Last year, we did an introductory story about the school, which  follows a project-based learning model of education.

Last week, we visited during Escuela Verde's "Project Night". Each student is required to present 2 projects per year to the community. Listen to the story above to learn more about student projects and found out what a former home-schooling mom thinks about her daughters experience at Escuela Verde. A school like this isn't suitable for all students, but the ones that take classes here seem to be thriving.

Escuela Verde has an accepted offer on a new, bigger building in the Menomonee Valley. If all goes well, they will be able to accept 40 more students in to the program next year. To follow their process, check out the school or get involved, check out their webiste at escuelaverde.org.
