As April's Organ Donation Month wraps up, officials at Froedert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin are urging people to join the statewide organ donation registry.
And getting your name on the list is just a few clicks away. Simply visit YesIWillWisconsin.com, enter your driver's license number and some other personal information, and you're good to go.
If you already have the orange dot on your driver's license, you'll want to check that website, too. If your license was issued before 2010, you may not be on the registry. But by going to the website, you can guarantee your organs will be donated to those in need upon your death.
One person can donate up to eight major organs, including heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and small intestines. But by donating tissue and corneas, your donation can impact up to 50 people.
Right now, about 2,500 people in Wisconsin are waiting for an organ transplant.
