This week’s song combines elements of Sly Stone, Al Green, and D’Angelo in to a smokey, soulful masterpiece. The song, “Pains” is by the duo Silk Rhodes, who just dropped their debut album on the indie label Stones Throw records. The same label responsible releasing debut albums from Aloe Blacc and Mayer Hawthorne. “Pains” might sound like something straight out of 70’s , but it doesn’t sound dated. Full of strings,and mellowed out organs, “Pains” by Silk Rhodes is Rhythm Lab Radio’s song of the week.
