New museum showcases Wisconsin art

It is home to the largest collection of Wisconsin art is the world, and it's just a short drive from Milwaukee -- the Museum of Wisconsin Art.

MOWA is America’s only regional art museum featuring the works of Wisconsin artists.  It features exhibition gallery space and a permanent collection.

Right now, the feature exhibit --  Polka Heartland -- showcases portraits by Milwaukee artist/photographer Dick Blau, peeking into the world behind Wisconsin's official state dance.

And the building the collection is housed in is a work of art on its own.  Designed by architect Jim Shields, the same architect who designed the Discovery World on Milwaukee's Lakefront, the modern white wedge-shaped structure features walls of windows and minimalist white tile.

To plan your trip, visit MOWA official website here.  And to hear more about the Polka Heartland exhibit, listen to my story from last week.
