Milwaukee has a thriving arts community, thanks in part to generous donations from corporations and individuals to the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF). UPAF is the biggest funder of the arts in Southeastern Wisconsin, which allows area talent to earn a living working in the arts.
I sat down with Malkia Stampley, a working artist that's lived all over the world. She shares her story with me, from her first professional gig in high school, to the work she's doing today. Malkia is a working actor with a great career, but also gives back to Milwaukee through her job as Community Partnership Coordinator at First Stage Theater.
