Ronald McDonald House needs your metal soda tabs!

You know those little pop tabs on the top of your soda can?  How many of those do you think you've thrown away in the last year?

Turns out, they can add up to critical operating dollars for a local nonprofit.  And for the next few weeks,  Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin is asking you to collect those tabs for its annual fundraising party on May 16.

Tab Toss Day takes place at United Milwaukee Scrap and will bring together local schools, girl scout troupes, organizations and businesses to collect as many of those metal tabs as possible.

Food will be available from the Gouda Girls food truck, plus there will be representatives from Great Clips, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and photo opportunities with Ronald McDonald himself.

Last year, RMDH collected 4,268 pounds of soda tabs, adding up to more than $30,000 for its operating budget.

You can drop off your tabs at the scrap yard on May 16.  And if you can't make it that day, Ronald McDonald House staff accepts tab donations between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at its Wauwatosa center.  Area Great Clips locations are also accepting tab donations on behalf of the charity.
