Chatting with Milwaukee Brewers' radio announcer Joe Block

It's no accident that Joe Block would end up in radio broadcasting. He was the kid doing the play-by-play into a tape recorder, as his buddies played Nintendo Ice Hockey video games. For the last 3+ years he's been the official voice and play-by-play announcer, alongside veteran broadcaster and former MLB catcher Bob Uecker, for the Milwaukee Brewers

Recently, I got to meet Joe Block and interview him on the field of Miller Park, which was such a treat for me. I asked him what his announcing style is, if he has coined any special broadcasting phrases. "I combine all the good elements from the people I've listened to over the years," says Joe Block. "I've listened to so many radio broadcasters, past and present." Also, gotta respect a guy that loves 90's hip hop and 88Nine faves, Digable Planets.
