The Special Olympics of Wisconsin provides people with intellectual disabilities training in a variety of sports and the chance to compete in regional, national and international games. Nearly 10,000 athletes in 180 communities participate statewide in Olympic-type sports while developing physical fitness and sharing a sense of community.
I visited the Special Olympics of Greater Milwaukee at one of their meets, held at Nicolet High School in early August.
