Milwaukee Film Festival: Before 'A Ballerina's Tale,' director Nelson George told the tale of funk music

The Milwaukee Film Festival is a couple of weeks away. One of the films I’m really excited to see is “ A Ballerina’s Tale,” which is about Misty Copeland. Copeland made history as the first African American female Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre. The film is directed by one of my favorite documentarians, Nelson George.

If you can’t wait for the film (like me), check out his previous film,  “Finding The Funk,” which you can stream now via VH1. “Finding The Funk” is narrated by The Roots' Questlove and tells the story of funk music through the eyes of D’Angelo, George Clinton, Sly Stone, Nile Rodgers and more. Watch the entire documentary below.
