I had originally planned on a birthday Shadow for a ledgendary punk rock icon but just learned his birthday isn't until later this week, so, thankfully, I had another punk icon in the on-deck circle. Happy Birthday to Dave Vanian, the vampiric lead singer of The Damned. The Damned were credited with releasing the first ever British punk rock single in 1976 with "New Rose". While there are many covers of "New Rose" I opted to go with one of my faves, "Smash It Up Parts 1 & 2". The Offspring have the semi-cover, they only cover Part 2.
