National Black Theatre Day

National Black Theatre Day

Celebrate National Black Theatre Day with Soultrè Presents: The Gathering Table, a community-centered evening honoring Black theatre, storytelling, artistry, and connection.

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, we’ll gather at Alice’s Garden for an evening rooted in fellowship, reflection, and creative exchange. The experience will include a community meal and potluck, libation, opportunities to share art, a special live rehearsal preview from Lynn Nottage’s Clyde’s, and a panel conversation featuring Tina Nixon, Ekene Ikegwuani, Mia Palmer, Marvin Hannah, and Antoine Reynolds I.

Together, these artists and cultural leaders will reflect on Black theatre, its legacy, the work happening in Milwaukee, and what it means to continue building spaces where Black stories, artists, and communities can thrive.

The Gathering Table is an invitation for artists, educators, theatre lovers, community members, and future storytellers to come together, celebrate the legacy of Black theatre, and imagine what we are building next.

Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, reusable water bottle, and a small contribution to the community table.
