The Blueberry Lemon Cheese Pie donut from Café Bunsuka and a dish from Kemola Restaurant, Milwaukee first all-Nigerian eatery.

On This Bites, dining critic Ann Christenson from Milwaukee Magazine and Radio Milwaukee’s resident foodie Tarik Moody dig into the city’s culinary and restaurant culture to help you find new spots, old favorites and the best ingestibles around Milwaukee.

The city’s appetite for all things Milwaukee Brewers has grown positively ravenous. So, as we sit on the cusp of our city’s first World Series since 1982, it’s the perfect time to talk about … basketball. At least that’s one of the times in this week’s food roundup, which features:

  • Café Bunsuka, the viral Thai doughnut pop-up selling out in seconds with flavors like mango sticky rice and savory "dagels."
  • Kemola Restaurant, Milwaukee’s first all-Nigerian restaurant in Brown Deer that serves up savory Egusi stew, Jollof rice, and classic fufu.
  • Buttah & Biscuit, which is bringing their hand-folded, small-batch Southern biscuits from long lines at farmers market lines to a storefront in Walker’s Point.
  • El Impostor and Tipsy Taco, two unconventional fusion spots in West Allis (open now) and on Teutonia Avenue (coming soon).
  • The Bucks’ new gameday eats, including dirty sodas and funnel fries.
