Willy Porter’s Humans in a Room is the gorgeous result of a collaboration between four musicians, a microphone company and a shared desire to record as simply as possible while giving the end listener a seat in the middle of the recording session.
Porter is joined here by cellist and vocalist, Mai Bloomfield, vocalist Carmen Nickerson & multi-instrumentalist Ryan Pearl. The album was recorded live in the studio in two one-day sessions at East West Studios in Los Angeles & Ocean Way, Nashville. It captures the powerful dynamics and musicality of this ensemble as they traverse some new material with rich multi-part vocal harmonies that ranges from new Americana to progressive folk and surrealist acoustic arrangements.
