It was just last November that soul-trap innovator Rod Wave played to an extremely enthusiastic Fiserv Forum crowd while riding the wave of back-to-back albums that debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. He’ll go for three this Friday and follow it up with an arena tour that will bring him back to Fiserv on Oct. 21.
Wave has stuck to an annual album cycle, which will bring new LP Nostalgia to his fans later this week. SoulFly in 2021 was his first studio effort to spend its first week on top of the prestigious chart, and Beautiful Mind did the same in 2022.
The soul-trap sound he’s helped popularize sees him switch between rapping and singing with ease while not shying away from emotional subject matter. The first three singles off his upcoming album are all pretty good examples of this, most recently “Come See Me,” which dives into loneliness, loss and heartbreak.
The Oct. 21 lineup includes another returning talent in Toosii, who was part of last year’s show, as well as G Herbo, Ari Lennox and Eelmatic. Tickets for the concert go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. this Thursday, Sept. 14, with a series of presales also scheduled. Get all the details on the event webpage.
