Jazz at The Vine returns to help you grow into summer

Humboldt Park Friends

Humboldt Park’s 73 acres are set to fully come back to life in just a few weeks with the reopening of its beer garden and the return of Jazz at The Vine, which just revealed its lineup for 2024.

The nonprofit volunteer group Humboldt Park Friends (HPF) puts together the annual concert series, with the latest installment firing back up May 23 thanks in part to the support from presenting sponsors Lakefront Brewery, Beer Capitol Distributing and Bay View resident Gary Hollander. While Jazz at The Vine has only been around since 2022, every year has seen an increase in the number of performances.

“We started with four nights in 2022, seven last year, and we’ll have eight nights of jazz this year, including being a venue for the Bay View Jazz Fest and Gallery Night again,” former HPF president and series organizer Ignacio Catral said in a release. “This series allows us to support Milwaukee County Parks and is dedicated to promoting jazz in Milwaukee. Each of the past two years, people let us know they enjoyed the music and wanted more.”

With that in mind, here’s what you can expect to hear at Jazz in The Vine this year:

  • May 23 — HEIRLOOM
  • May 31 —  Bay View Jazz Fest
  • June 13 — Garrett Waite Quartet
  • June 27 — Paul Silbergliet Trio
  • July 11 — Anne Davis Quartet (with Marquette University High School Jazz Quintet SANDWICH from 5 to 6 p.m.)
  • July 25 — Neil Davis Quartet
  • Aug. 15 — Milwaukee Jazz Institute Night (Faculty and Youth Combos)
  • Aug. 29 — Donna Woodall Group

Performances run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. — with the exception of that early start July 11 — and happen rain or shine. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the music moves inside the park’s pavilion adjacent to the beer garden. Free parking is available a short stroll away on Park Road, East Idaho Street, East Oklahoma Avenue and South Howell Avenue.
