It’s been a busy year for Ethel Cain (aka Hayden Anhedönia). After releasing an experimental drone-music album in the early days of 2025, she followed it up with the August drop of Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You. That’s the record she’s currently touring in the U.K. and Europe, and next spring she’ll bring it to Milwaukee for an April 24 show at the Miller High Life Theatre.
That performance will come two weeks after she plays Coachella, with the California festival serving as a kickoff of sorts for a North American leg that wraps up with a three-night run at — appropriately — Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa.
Cain (the person, not the venue) was last in Milwaukee not too long ago, putting on a memorable show at Summerfest’s Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard in 2024. At first blush, gothic rock might not come across as a super-engaging genre for the live environment. But Cain had the crowd eating it up, with a solid cover of “Bette Davis Eyes” thrown in for good measure.
Tickets for Ethel Cain’s concert April 24 at the Miller High Life Theater go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. this Friday, Oct. 10, online via AXS and at the Pabst/Riverside box offices.
Ethel Cain artist bio
Ethel Cain is the creation of Florida born multidisciplinary artist Hayden Anhedönia. After years spent teaching herself to produce at home in the Florida panhandle and releasing various projects, Cain moved to Indiana and single-handedly wrote, produced, recorded and mixed her acclaimed 2021 EP Inbred from the basement of the old church where she lived.
Since then, she has released three bodies of work. Her 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter, a multimedia work that took more than four years to assemble, was released in May 2022 to widespread praise, with many critics naming the album one of the best of the year. In 2025, she has unveiled Perverts, a 90-minute project exploring her furthest afield inspirations from ambient and drone, and sophomore LP Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You.
Cain has played headline shows and packed festival sets around the world, and is currently in the midst of her completely sold out “Willoughby Tucker Forever” tour. She also walked in New York and Paris fashion weeks while working with Dior, Givenchy, Miu Miu and Calvin Klein; and has collaborated and shared stages with Florence + the Machine, Mitski and more.
