Summerfest rounds out its amphitheater lineup with Carín León

Milwaukee World Festival

The American Family Insurance Amphitheater’s lineup for Summerfest 2026 is officially full.

On Thursday, the festival announced that Carín León will headline the big stage on the first Saturday, June 20, making him the first regional Mexican artist to top the bill at the Amp.

A native of Hermosillo in the Mexican state of Sonora, León has emerged as one of the genre’s most influential voices and has helped bring regional Mexican music to global audiences. His work blends traditional styles like banda, norteño, mariachi and sierreño with elements of country, rock and soul — all led by his powerful, gritty vocals and emotionally driven storytelling.

León just became a back-to-back Grammy winner, taking home the award for Best Música Mexicana Album in both 2026 for Palabra De To's (Seca) and 2025 for Boca Chueca, Vol. 1. He also has won four Latin Grammys while delivering chart-topping hits, including “Primera Cita” and “Que Vuelvas” — the latter a collab with Grupo Frontera that set off a run of amazing team-ups with the likes of Maluma, Leon Bridges, Kane Brown and more

León has also performed at major stages worldwide, signaling the genre’s continued crossover success. His Summerfest appearance marks a milestone moment not just for him as an individual, but for the evolution of the festival itself. As Summerfest continues to expand its cultural reach, León’s headlining slot reflects the growing influence and cultural power of regional Mexican music on the world stage.

Tickets for the June 20 concert at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater include admission to Summerfest and go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
