Concerts, by their nature, are entirely unique experiences. Each venue, each audience, each performance will always be different than what came before and what follows. That being said, the format Brandi Carlile just announced for her upcoming tour promises to be singular events for those lucky enough to be there.
For starters, the much-awarded singer-songwriter intentionally scaled things back from a venue perspective, opting to visit “some of the older theaters that meant so much to us early in our career.” Carlile also decided to keep it to just nine cities, one of which is Milwaukee and its historic Pabst Theater that will welcome her for a two-night stay Nov. 14 and 15.
As the headline mentioned, the real one-of-a-kind facet of the upcoming tour is that there are no set lists. "Every show will be completely unique and totally spur-of-the-moment," Carlile announced. "You can yell out requests, hold a sign up … whatever you want. I may or may not wander up and down the aisles too."
Appropriately, the brief journey across the United States is called “Burn the Setlist! The All Request Tour” and will start on the West Coast in Portland on Nov. 5. All of the dates, including Milwaukee on Nov. 14 and 15, will use Yondr pouches to ensure a technology-free experience (aside from whatever Carlile and her crew use in the performance, of course).
Tickets for both nights at the Pabst Theater go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. this Friday, Oct. 2, online via AXS and at the Pabst/Riverside box offices.
