Listen to Nwa Na Agbe's fusion of funk, jazz and African rhythms on 414 Live

Thursday, on 414 Live, we were excited to welcome the fused African rhythms, soul, funk and jazz beats of Nwa Na Agbe as the group livened the stage with songs off its 2018 “Live!” album.

Nwa Na Agbe (which translates from Igbo to “black and mad”) is a collective of Milwaukee artists started  by Jay Anderson and Cecilio Negrón Jr. The musicians have taken traditional African music and transformed it into their own captivating genre-bending blend. Their new album presents a compilation of their resounding live recordings.

This infectious sound is heavily inspired by the Nigerian musician and human rights activist Fela Kuti. Therefore, as the music of Nwa Na Agbe intoxicates the soul causing irresistible dancing, it also calls on for social awareness and political change.

414 Live is presented by Miller Brewing Company with support from Hi Hat Lounge & Garage, The Prairie School and Dave’s Guitar Shop.
