The Day The Music Died

Today is the 57th anniversary of "The Day The Music Died."

Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper were among those who perished in the chartered plane that took off from Clear Lake, IA bound for Moorhead, MN. Waylon Jennings voluntarily gave up his seat to The Big Bopper, who at 28 was the oldest of the performers. Valens was just 17 and Holly, 22. Since the songs are so short, we'll honor Holly and Valens.

We get the cover from M. Ward

And Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba"

And the cover by Los Lobos
