I recently sat down with Jean Dawson to talk about his 2024 album, Glimmer of God, and our conversation extended well beyond that to dig into the duality that’s been present in his music from the very beginning.
From debut record Bad Sports to the eight-track project he dropped this past August, Rock a Bye Baby, Jean has taken us along for the ride on his journey of self-discovery. This is an artist who leans fully into the two sides of his being: the masculine and the feminine, the raw and the reflective. He approaches life with a deeply therapeutic lens, constantly exploring, evolving and searching for himself through sound. He creates without expectation, allowing listeners to take whatever speaks to them.
Glimmer of God captures that growth in multiple forms, refusing to fit neatly into any box. And that’s exactly what makes it brilliant.
