A world of sound comes together on Gego y Nony’s new track

Every week, Milwaukee Music Premiere connects the city’s artists with our listening audience. If you’re an artist with a track you’d like us to debut exclusively on Radio Milwaukee, head over to our Music Submission page to learn how.

Puerto Rican duo and siblings Gego y Nony burst onto the Milwaukee music scene back in May 2021 with their album, "Tiempo." Since that release, the brothers from the South Side of Milwaukee have enjoyed some local success: Radio Milwaukee Music Awards Album of the Year winners, supporting acts for major Latin and National artists at Summerfest, and headliners at a long list of local events.

Now, they turn to us to premiere their latest single, “100MPH,” a record that showcases the versatility and creativity the duo possess. The new track somehow pulls together an incredible variety of sound — house, reggaeton, dembow and Afro vibes — while staying true to relationship storytelling.

The brothers got a little help on that front from producer Yessir Abraham (Rompiendo Beats), who lives in Spain but had no trouble collaborating from afar. “Nony and Yessir worked on producing a house-style rhythm that incorporated reggaeton, dembow throughout parts of the track,” the band explained. “After working on not just the instrumental, but also the song's catchy hook, the project quickly became one of Nony's favorite songs.”

The song gets its official release on all streaming platforms tomorrow, Sept. 16. But of course you can listen to it right here and then catch Gego y Nony at a couple upcoming performances: American Family Field for Cerveceros Day this Saturday, Sept. 17, and our 15th Birthday Party on Saturday, Oct. 1.
