We enjoyed sitting down with Chance the Rapper at 88Nine's studios and discuss his upcoming mixtape. Here's an excerpt from our interview.
Justin Barney: “Chance, thanks for being here. A lot has happened since Acid Rap, your second mixtape came out. “Angels” just came out. It’s going to be off your third mixtape, and it has me really excited about it. I was wondering if you could tell me about what this third project is all about.
Chance The Rapper: “The best way to describe the third project is that it carries a lot of the same things like family and growth and church, you know what I’m sayin’? And rap. That’s like a peak black thing that I exude and am good at doing and I feel like really confident at rap right now. This third mix tape is very “rappy” and while it carries all of these other themes, it’s fun sometimes to just go crazy – every literary device that you can think of and it’s a fun thing. And I feel like all of those themes are fun to me so I wanted to make a fun piece or project that made the chronicle a trilogy.”
