If you listen to my show, Rhythm Lab Radio or 88Nine After Nine, you probably heard music from one of my favorite artists of 2018, Amber Mark. Rhythm Lab Radio even featured her tune, "Lose My Cool" on the best songs of 2017 show. The future soul artist just released a fantastic cover of Milwaukee's own Kings Go Forth track, "High on Your Love" that appeared on their 2010 album "The Outsiders Are Back."
Written by Milwaukee's own Andy Noble, Amber turns the original midtempo soul tune into a reggae-influence R&B track. The cover is the first release on a record label started by W Hotels called W Records.
In a letter to Fader Magazine, Amber shared the reason why she chose to cover the song:
‘High on Your Love’ was chosen because I've always wanted to cover it. I first heard it a few years ago when a manager of my parents’ restaurant played it to me. I've always wanted to make a sort of dance version of it. Hopefully, I accomplished that.
All the royalties from the song will benefit the organization, The Rose, whose mission is to bring "quality breast cancer health services, advocacy and access to care for all."
