Folk singer-songwriter Peter Mulvey and SistaStrings have garnered national acclaim during their respective careers. But that doesn't mean they're about to forget their Milwaukee roots.
The trio on Wednesday announced a tour that includes a stop at the Back Room @ Colectivo on Sunday, Oct. 9. They'll perform about an hour east of where they recorded the album they're showcasing, "Love Is The Only Thing," due out this Friday, Aug. 12.
SistaStrings' Monique and Chauntee Ross met Mulvey and drummer Nathan Kilen at Café Carpe in Fort Atkinson to lay down tracks for the new LP, which continues the Ross sisters' banner year. They're fresh off a show backing Brandi Carlile at Fiserv Forum, and earlier in the year played alongside Allison Russell on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "Ellen" before taking the stage with Carlile at the GRAMMYs.
"We’ve seen the power of hard work, facing hard truths and being vulnerable at work our entire lives," the siblings said on Instagram. "It’s now reaping season for some of that work as we plant more seeds of music, love and collaboration."
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, online and at the Pabst/Riverside box offices.
