Country megastar Eric Church must’ve had a heckuva time at his American Family Field show this past May, because he’s coming back to Milwaukee a little more than a year later as Summerfest’s day-one headliner.
The first artist to complete the AmFam double, Church will play the amphitheater at Henry Maier Festival Park on Thursday, June 22, with Elle King handling opening duties for the evening. In addition to being the first headliner of Summerfest 2023, the show will also serve as the first of Church’s “Outsiders Revival Tour” that’ll criss-cross the country before winding down in Tampa on Sept. 30.
The Summerfest date will mark an even quicker return for King, who opened for Chris Stapleton at Fiserv Forum last October. If you remember her from her 2009 Grammy-nominated song “Ex’s and Oh’s,” you might not recognize her current form. You’ll get a full dose of it this June, as she’ll be touring behind Come Get Your Wife, her first wall-to-wall country album that’s out Jan. 27.
Church’s latest offerings were his Heart & Soul project from 2021, but fans around here are probably still buzzing from that AmFam Field show. If you want to catch his next one, tickets go on sale to his Church Choir members at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, and to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, via Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest box office.
