Regional Mexican music has exploded in popularity over the last few years, with artists like Peso Pluma and Grupo Frontera pushing it into the mainstream. The first announced BMO Pavilion headliner will bring that sound to Summerfest, as Ivan Cornejo plays the stage July 6.
Hailing from Riverdale, Calif., Cornejo put out debut album Alma Vacía in 2021 just two months after turning 17. He followed it up less than a year later with the release of Dañado, which quickly topped the Regional Mexican Albums chart, reached number four among Top Latin Albums and entered the overall top 200 at 149.
On the heels of that success, Cornejo won Debut Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Album of the Year at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards. He has since built a following that currently makes him the second most listened to Regional Mexican artist in the United States.
If you want to secure a spot at Cornejo’s BMO Pavilion show, reserved seats (which include Summerfest admission) go on sale at 10 a.m. next Friday, Jan. 19, online via Ticketmaster and at the Summerfest box office.
