Childish Gambino will play Fiserv Forum this August

Fiserv Forum

Donald Glover’s music project Childish Gambino has always operated in a loose space, just over the line from mysterious. Rumors float around and eventually become announcements that seem to drift in from the ether before Glover goes back to one of the many things on his plate.

Monday brought with it a handful of rumors-turned reality, including a reworked version of his 3.15.20 album (now titled Atavista), a statement from Glover that a new album will be out this summer and the announcement of a tour that will stop at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum on Aug. 14.

Glover had been teasing many of these music-related developments over the past few months as a few of his other pursuits unfolded. Most recently on the acting front, he showed up as one of the title characters in Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with Maya Erskine playing his better half in the much-praised series.

His last time on stage in Milwaukee was more than a decade ago in support of 2013 album Because the Internet, which he brought to The Rave for a show in March of 2014. Clearly, his star has risen significantly since then, something reflected in the venue he’ll play when he brings “The New World Tour” to the city this summer.

If you’d like to pick up tickets to the Aug. 14 show, your first opportunities are a series of presales that start this Wednesday, all of which are listed on the Ticketmaster event page. The general sale gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday online and at the Fiserv Forum box office.
