One of the cooler aspects of indie rock is how many different sounds fall under that inclusive umbrella. Since 2013, San Fermin have been one of the genre’s more eclectic members, with a catalog of rich compositions executed by a team of talented musicians. They’ll focus on one particular collection of songs when they hit the road next spring for a tour that includes an April 19 stop at the Vivarium.
The album getting the anniversary treatment is 2015’s Jackrabbit — San Fermin’s sophomore record but the first to feature an “official” lineup behind composer and creative force Ellis Ludwig-Leone. While that roster has been tweaked here and there over the years, most of the musicians on Jackrabbit are still going strong with the group, which noted on social media that “some old friends” might join the tour.
Making things even more special is the limited nature of the tour. As of this writing, San Fermin have announced only eight dates (although there’s space in the schedule for additions), with Milwaukee sitting in second position behind the kickoff show in Chicago.
Your first chance to pick up tickets to the April 19 show at the Vivarium is the artist presale currently underway (code: 10YEARS). A general sale will follow at 10 a.m. this Friday, Nov. 22, online and at the Pabst/Riverside box offices.
