Could this be the year that Milwaukee's WebsterX breaks out?

This week, Sam Ahmed aka WebsterX will drop his debut album "Daymares" via the Chicago label Closed Sessions.  He will also host an album release show at Turner Hall Ballroom Friday, May 26.

Entrenched in his music WebsterX delivers a message of hope with stories from his path to finding his own identity. With vibrant lyrics addressing his dark past WebsterX holds the torch for his city and lights the way to a bright future. Spreading positivity through his community WebsterX is a co-founder of a youth organization called FreeSpace. With impressive national press coverage and award winning music videos WebsterX has put a spotlight on Milwaukee's budding music community and continues to see his vision become a reality. 88Nine's Jordan Lee sat down with WebsterX for casual conversation about his vision for his career, feelings about the local and regional music scene. WebsterX also shared his thoughts about identity politics and growing up as a Ethiopian in Milwaukee.  WebsterX talked about the youth organization, FreeSpace, which he co-founded.

WebsterX also talked about the creative process behind his debut album, "Daymares."  You can watch the video interview below.
