Lineups are out. Excitement increases daily. And summer is supposedly on its way.

As the Midwest looks ahead to music festival season, it’s our wallets that begin to get a bit nervous.

So, it’s our recommendation that you scour the Internet to find as many free or discounted ways into these festivals as possible.

Success! This page happens to be a free way into all three days of Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival. And with a few clicks you could be on your way with a free trip south of the border (not Mexico, Chicago).

Back for its 11th year, Pitchfork’s 2016 lineup is one of the most eclectic on the Midwest circuit.

Instead of releasing a lineup touting headliners, Pitchfork organizers opted for an alpha-ordered list.

All 44 performers are worthy of your time, but a few acts are must-sees: jazz-funk bassist Thundercat, Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds and Sun Ra Arkestra – near-60-year-old the Philadelphia-based experimental jazz ensemble.

No matter who you’re digging, who you’re dancing to or who you’ve never heard of, Pitchfork is a festival for music discovery. And we want to send you to all three days for free.
