Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Touré teams up with the pros of chill, Khruangbin, for Ali, out Sept. 23 on Dead Oceans. The album was named in honor of Ali Farka Touré, Vieux’s father who breathed life into the genre of African desert blues. The mesmerizing “Tongo Barra” is a sprawling ride that beautifully sustains the familial musical legacy.
