Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas brings ’70s film feel to funky single

Every Monday, “Add of the Week” unveils all the new songs going into the 88Nine on-air playlist, with one hand-picked selection put in the spotlight by a member of our music team.

Grammy Award winner, songwriter and composer Adrian Quesada — best known for his work with Black Pumas — is set to release his sophomore project, Jaguar Sound on Nov. 18. This week, we decided that the first single, "Noble Metals" would fit as a nice piece to our musical-rotation puzzle.

This track is layered with heavy hip-hop beats and psychedelic funk, which you can consider a taste of the 12 recordings that will live on the full album. Quesada has said that while putting it together, he dipped into a wide array of sounds — Italian film scores from the 1970s, music made for TV and commercials, and plenty from hip-hop producer the Alchemist.

You can listen to “Noble Metals” below and on 88Nine by tuning your FM dial in Milwaukee or streaming worldwide on our website and mobile app.
