Chris Vos misses his family. And the Green Bay Packers.
But the Milwaukee-turned-LA musician, leader of The Record Company, is not complaining.
Things are going so well, he has a hard time putting it all into words.
“It’s just like … I mean, honestly it’s just … I have no idea how, how… what to say about it … except that I’m touched, I’m thrilled, I’m honored and it’s a privilege to have this opportunity,” Vos told 88Nine.
In recent weeks, he hung out with Bill Murray at South by Southwest. (“Surreal,” he said.)
He played one of the prime SXSW gigs – Rachael Ray's Feedback Festival at Austin’s famous Stubb’s BBQ.
“That’s like a gig that I’ve peered through the fence and wished I could be just in there. And then to get to play right after George Clinton on that outdoor stage was phenomenal.”

The band played on Conan. And, this week, their song “Off the Ground” cracked the Top 5 on Billboard’s Adult Album Alternative chart.
Yesterday, The Record Company played a Studio:Milwaukee session at 88Nine. Tonight, the band plays Turner Hall.

It hit him as he was driving into Milwaukee Monday night. “As I’m seeing the skyline, it’s just like a big warm hug.”
After so much time on the road, he says it’s nice to feel something familiar.
“I miss my family, man. I miss my friends, I miss the camaraderie of the musicians I knew here.
“I miss the Green Bay Packers. I miss tailgating with my Dad at Lambeau, going out to my Dad’s farm and working on the farm to clear my head.”
Some things, he says, you just can’t replace.
“But you know they’re always here, so that’s comforting.”
