Upcoming Studio Milwaukee Sessions: Peter Mulvey & SistaStrings, Peter Collins
A new calendar year means we can expect an uptick in Milwaukee concert and festival announcements as artists figure out their touring schedules for 2023.
Some musicians got a jump on that, though — like Ani DiFranco, who announced last October that she'll be play the Pabst Theater on Jan. 25. Tucked into that announcement was a Milwaukee connection in the form of DiFranco's openers for the night: Peter Mulvey and SistaStrings.
While Radio Milwaukee may not carry quite the gravitas of SNL, the Tiny Desk, Jimmy Kimmel Live! or even the Pabst, our programming team pulled some strings of their own. So at noon the same day as their show, the beloved trio will play our Walker's Point home for a Studio Milwaukee Session.
It'll be homecoming of sorts for the Nashville-based, Milwaukee-raised SistaStrings duo of Monique and Chauntee Ross, as well as Mulvey, who originates from Wisconsin. The group will surely play songs from their collaborative LP, Love Is The Only Thing, which released last August.
But that's not the only session planned for that week.
Acoustic singer-songwriter Peter Collins — who carries a TikTok following of nearly 700,000 and more than 300,000 on Instagram — will showcase his impressive vocal range during an exclusive Studio Milwaukee Session at noon Friday, Jan. 27. Collins is also the featured guest for this month's Grace Weber's Music Lab, where he will share his musical knowledge with Milwaukee-area high school students.
Everyone at Radio Milwaukee is already looking forward to the week, as are our members, who should watch their inboxes for invites to the sessions. If you want to join that list, it's easy to become a Radio Milwaukee member. But, as always, you can catch all of our sessions simulcast on 88Nine, so make sure to tune in at noon both days to hear the live performances.
