Influential Wisconsin musicians you may not have heard of

Each Thursday morning on Radio Milwaukee we — the Journal Sentinel’s Piet Levy and 88Nine’s Jordan Lee — talk about the music coming into and the music coming out of Milwaukee on Tap’d In.
There’s a new article up now on JSonline about the 25 Wisconsin musicians who have made the most impact over the last century. Yes, there are plenty of artists you’d expect: Bon Iver, Liberace, Les Paul — artists most of us are aware of. But there are also so many artists you may not know were from Wisconsin.
For instance there’s Pee Wee King, a legendary country artist featured in the new Ken Burns “Country Music” documentary, or Felice Bryant, a Milwaukee songwriter behind some huge hits including The Everly Brothers’ classic “Bye Bye Love.”
