5 things to do this weekend | Sept. 8th-11th

#1

"Good Morning, Milwaukee" Photo Exhibition Opening Night

200 photos of places around Milwaukee -- some of them buildings that no longer exist. Milwaukeean Blyth Renate Meier will feature her photo collection at the Portrait Society Gallery. Opening night is this Thursday. Her work is a compelling view of Milwaukee that depicts an established city. These photos preserve the ancient corners of the place we call home. Get some culture! Go to the show. It's a chance to see Milwaukee from a perspective you wouldn't otherwise get to witness.

Thursday, Sept 9, 6pm to 9pm -  @ Portrait Society Gallery (207 E. Buffalo Street,  Set 526)

#2

Sankofa MKE Festival

What is the Sankofa MKE Festival? As their mission states, “Sankofa MKE is a festival to celebrate the beauty of Black lives, music, and culture. Whether you are Black American, African, or part of the African diaspora of the world. You're worth celebrating. We're not simply creating another festival. We're opening another front in the war to uplift Black folks here in Milwaukee.” Sankofa MKE Festival is in its inaugural year. It will feature tons of diverse Milwaukee music. Get your tickets here.

Saturday at 2pm @ Washington Park Bandshell (1859 N. 40th St.)
