If you feel like you haven't gotten enough of a hip-hop fix this month as the genre celebrates 50 years in music, look no further than your own backyard for events happening this week.
Hip-Hop Week is officially underway in Milwaukee after a three-year hiatus and the schedule is jam-packed with concerts, films, speaking engagements and other activities for hip-hop heads.
By my count, there are 29 events on the schedule. Among them, HYFIN music director Element Everest-Blanks will sit on a panel for Women in Hip-Hop on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Amplifier program coordinator Chad Roper will host a conversation about mental health with Chicago rapper G Herbo on Sunday, Aug. 27. Of course, there will be music; Jadakiss, The Pharcyde and Moneybagg Yo all have headlining shows planned for the week, plus a slew of other local shows happening.
