Lakitu. Pauline. The Galar Region. Inklings.
If any of those words make sense to you — and even if they don’t — Sugar Maple has the perfect three-night event loaded and ready to play.
From Oct. 19 through 22, the Sugar Maple will become “Bartendo” to celebrate all things Nintendo. Details are relatively scant at this point, but we do know the bar put out a call for artists and vendors to participate.
The Sugar Maple’s affinity for creatively themed events is well established at this point. In the last year alone, it hosted pop-ups focused on Studio Ghibli, the films of Wes Anderson (“Wes Fest”), Avatar (the TV series, not the James Cameron movies) and, just this past weekend, Netflix sketch-comedy series I Think You Should Leave.
In case you breezed past the Facebook post, the art-forward watering hole will once again transform its space based on the theme and is looking for artists to submit Nintendo-themed work (larger is better). The deadline to get those submissions to the Sugar Maple is 8 p.m. Oct. 12, with selected artists notified the following day. All works will remain on display from Oct. 19 through Nov. 16. On the vendor side, they’ll get a chance to display their wares from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.
You can check the Sugar Maple’s Facebook page for updates about the event. For now, dig those oversized Mario gloves out of the closet and practice with a pint at home so you don’t spill all over yourself in front of the whole Mushroom Kingdom.
