Summerfest amphitheater headliner announcements tend to come in bunches. True to form, after adding Mötley Crüe to the lineup yesterday, the festival tacked on one more (and one more country artist) this morning: Keith Urban.

The Aussie artist will play the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on the second Saturday of Summerfest, June 29. Opening for him that night are rock chameleons NEEDTOBREATHE and fellow country act Lindsay Ell.

Urban’s accolades run deep and include four Grammys, 13 Country Music Association Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, two People’s Choice Awards and eight albums certified platinum. This year, he was inducted to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and launched a Las Vegas residency that wraps up in November.

The last time the occasional American Idol judge/mentor visited Milwaukee was also at the Amp back in August of 2022 as part of “The Speed of Now” world tour. Prior to that, it had been so long that the Bradley Center was still around and played host to Urban’s “Ripcord” tour. He’s no stranger to Summerfest, either, appearing at the festival in 2015, 2009 and 2005.

If you want to pick up tickets to the June 29 show, opener NEEDTOBREATHE has an artist presale that starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday. There’s also a venue presale at 10 a.m. Thursday, as well as a general sale that gets underway at the same time Friday online via Ticketmaster and at the AmFam Amp box office.
