Bublr Bikes, Walker’s Point breweries team up for Bike Week event

Bublr Bikes

We don’t need to tell you about Milwaukee’s embarrassment of riches when it comes to craft-beer taprooms. Visit just about any neighborhood in the city, and there’s likely to be several within walking distance.

Or biking.

If you’ve never made a two-wheeled trip to one of our wonderful beverage oases, you really should knock it off your bucket list at some point in the glorious months ahead. And if you make that “some point” Wisconsin Bike Week (June 1-9), four local organizations will make it even more worth your while.

Milwaukee nonprofit bikeshare Bublr Bikes has teamed up with three Walker’s Point breweries — MobCraft Beer, Indeed Brewing and Broken Bat Brewing Co. — to create what they’re calling the Bublr & Brews Beer Trail. The short version is that by renting a Bublr Bike and visiting all three breweries, you can win some cool stuff. MobCraft and Indeed both contributed a quarter-barrel party, while Broken Bat offered up a two-hour rental of their wiffle-ball field.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Starting June 1, purchase a pint of beer at all three participating breweries. When you do, pick up a punch card from the bar. Any purchase = a punch.
  2. Rent a Bublr Bike from any one of the 100+ stations across the Milwaukee metro area.
  3. Drop off your completed punch card at any of the three breweries no later than June 9. Make sure to fill out the back with your name, email and phone number.

While visiting Milwaukee breweries and taprooms is a longstanding tradition, the bikeshare aspect of this campaign adds a relatively recent wrinkle. As Bublr Bikes sponsorship and outreach manager Elizabeth Grout noted, the local business is unique because “most bikeshares are either owned by Uber or Lyft.”

“When you ride a Bublr,” she added, “you are directly giving back to the community by supporting our free cycling classes, free Bublr passes for income-qualified neighbors and more. Walker’s Point is home to quite a few Bublr stations, so we are excited to host a Bike Week event in the heart of Milwaukee.”

It’s also very important to note that the Bublr & Brews Bike Trail is active throughout Wisconsin Bike Week, June 1-9, so there’s no need to try and cram all three brewery visits into one afternoon. In other words: Bike responsibly.
