Every Monday, “Add of the Week” unveils all the new songs going into the 88Nine on-air playlist, with one hand-picked selection put in the spotlight by a member of our music team.
Jilian Medford of IAN SWEET appears to be obsessed with…spit? On the indie rock band’s 2018 album, Crush Crusher, a song called “Spit” appears. The band has sent yet another spitball out into the world with their newest brisk and love-centric single called “Your Spit” (from their forthcoming Polyvinyl Records release, SUCKER), where Medford sings over an anticipatory and steady electronic drumbeat:
But if you kiss me like you mean it
Kiss me like you’re leaving
Your spit tastes different
Kiss me like you mean it
Make me believe it
Make me believe it
Medford underlines, "['Your Spit'] is about the joy and fear that surrounds new relationships. The excitement that's also accompanied by doubt…but, I'd be lying if I didn't say the song is just mostly about making out."
The song is both ruminatingly chill and twitchily amped up, overflowing with fuzzy guitars and crunchy bass. Check out the fun movie theater makeout-themed video featuring guest appearances from the cast of Saturday Night Live and keep an ear out for the new single on the 88Nine airwaves.
You can listen to “Your Spit” below and on 88Nine by tuning your FM dial in Milwaukee or streaming worldwide on our website and mobile app.
