Every week, La Alternativa delivers the very best from the Latin alternative scene by curating a blend of emerging and established artists within the Latin diaspora, while providing a platform to champion our growing local music scene. Listen on demand here and on 88Nine from 10-11 p.m. every Wednesday.
This episode gets a special guest host in the form of Milwaukee-based interdisciplinary artist Ck Ledesma, who joined us in anticipation of the year-long outdoor sculpture installation that opened June 11 at Bronzeville Center for the Arts.
We talked about Ck’s roots growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico; the concept and idea behind the installation titled “If You Put Your Ear To It, You Can Hear The Waves”; and the importance of Queer and Afro-Indigenous representation in media. This show is a real treat, with a fabulous playlist along the way.
