Every week, La Alternativa delivers the very best from the Latin alternative scene by curating a blend of emerging and established artists within the Latin diaspora, while providing a platform to champion our growing local music scene. Listen on demand here and on 88Nine from 10-11 p.m. every Wednesday.
For this episode, we were excited to spotlight Dominican-Italian artist YEИDRY and her stunning new bolero, "Mala Mia," the first taste of her long-awaited debut album that arrives this fall.
Born in Santo Domingo and raised in Turin, YEИDRY brings a life lived between cultures into everything she creates. "Mala Mia" is a heartfelt farewell to Italy, a past relationship and the version of herself shaped by other people's expectations. She first caught our ears with songs like "Nena" and "Barrio," and after standout festival appearances and collaborations with acclaimed artists, it feels like this is truly her moment to shine.
We also shared new music from RIXXIA, TRISTAN! and more as part of another episode rooted in discovery, cultura and the ever-evolving future of Latin alternative music. Thanks for joining us each week.
