Every week, La Alternativa sponsored by Sparkly Clean Co. delivers the very best from the Latin alternative scene by curating a blend of emerging and established artists within the Latin diaspora, while providing a platform to champion our growing local music scene. Listen on demand here and on 88Nine from 10-11 p.m. every Wednesday.
For this episode, we welcomed Milwaukee Public Museum educators Berta and Bianca, for a conversation about cultura, community and the ways the museum is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
We talked about programs like “Misterio at MPM: Hispanic Heritage Edition” and “Celebración Latina,” along with other ways the museum creates space to experience and celebrate Latino culture throughout the year.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an episode of La Alternativa without music. Berta and Bianca shared a few tracks that inspire them, giving us another way to learn more about who they are and the experiences that shaped them. It was a great conversation connecting music, education and community, as well as a reminder of how many ways cultura can be celebrated and shared right here in Milwaukee.
