State of Sound: Social Cig

Jen Ellis

Social Cig has been bouncing around the Milwaukee music scene for just a couple of years, but the self-described "indie-skate-rock" outfit is firmly established in the city's growing lineup of excellent bands. It's a trend that's impossible to ignore — so much so that the Pabst Theater Group invited four of those groups, including Social Cig, to take over Turner Hall Ballroom for an all-Milwaukee showcase Aug. 25.

As they ramped up to that groundbreaking night, Social Cig joined us for this episode of State of Sound to give everyone a chance to get to know the band — from frontman Parker Schultz's family influences to their bedroom foundation. And of course they treated us to a four-song set that was just a taste of what the city's music fans will hear at Turner Hall at the end of August.

You can check out more of Social Cig's music on Bandcamp, and follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
