State of Sound: De La Luz

Jen Ellis

Two years ago, De La Luz walked on stage at Summerfest's Miller Lite Oasis bringing as much mystery as music. The dark pop/rock duo of Vincent Black and Mario Lanza performed in face paint, setting a theatrical tone they've maintained right through to this episode of State of Sound.

De La Luz went hard for their appearance on our stage, both in their sound and the fact they showed up with all-new material. As Vincent Moreno explained to 88Nine's Kenny Perez, "We crave to not think ... and just be in whatever we're writing. We're just creating what we love, finding the movements in it to tell the story."

Anyone who's seen any of the band's videos know their creative tap is always flowing, and they showcased it on this episode. De La Luz's cutting, crunchy guitars and passionate vocals made for a powerful performance you can relive using the player at the top of the page. To keep up the band's projects, check out their website, and follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
