Every Monday, 88Nine music director Erin Wolf shares a sonic gem she found using her nearly 20 years of new-music exploration experience. You can hear all her discoveries at 2 p.m. every Sunday on What’s All This: Adventures in New Music.
Chicago artists The O’My’s and Jamila Woods come together to join talents on new song “Nothing Much,” a part of The O’My’s forthcoming full-length Trust The Stars. Woods is one of two additional features on that record.
The soulful duo describe their writing as channeling experiences and perspectives into gritty-yet-polished music that grabs the listener with its sonics, and then holds tight with its content. That magnetic pull is cemented by the simple formula of keys and guitar, with Woods elevating things with her own magic: her incredible voice. This song is undeniably a vibe and teases a promising batch of songs.
Look for the full album from The O’My’s out Nov. 8 on HiyaSelf Recordings. Until then, find the newest single below, and then come back at 2 p.m. every Sunday for my latest collection of the latest tracks on What’s All This: Adventures in New Music.
