Celebrate 'Phobruary' at these three Milwaukee restaurants

Three local Milwaukee restaurants are participating in "Phobruary," a month devoted to the popular Vietnamese food, pho. The participating restaurants are Thai Bar-B-Que, Bamboo and Vientiane Noodle Shop. All three are located on National Ave.

The noodle dish is comparable to a soup or broth and features noodles as well as beef, chicken, shrimp or vegetables. Pho is often spicy as it can be garnished with jalapeños or other peppers and herbs. But it can even include Thai Basil, sprouts, cilantro, limes and other flavors tailored to your specific taste.

This month, Thai Bar-B-Que, Bamboo and Vientiane Noodle Shop will be selling pho for $5 a bowl (though don't forget to tip your server). Usually it costs between $8 and $10.

In addition to the month-long price discount, the restaurants are holding two contests:

The first is the "Phon (fun) in Silver City Challenge," which offers any customer who eats pho at all three restaurants this month a guaranteed signed certificate of achievement as well as one entry for a chance to win a $25 gift card to the Asian International Market. To participate, submit your receipts and a picture of yourself with each bowl to The winner of the gift card will be announced on March 1.

For more adventurous customers and those who really can't get enough pho this Phobruary, there's the "What the Pho! Challenge." The first three people to eat at all three participating Phobruary restaurants in a single day will receive a $25 gift card to the Asian International Market as well as a signed certificate of excellence. Just like the first challenge, to enter, you have to submit receipts and pictures of yourself with each bowl of pho to

While you're enjoying the discount, don't forget to tip your server on the original price. (If you need more tips on tipping, find our modern guide HERE.)

Happy Phobruary!
