Kpolly here. This week on Cinebuds we're digging in to two awards season films that feature Leading Actress Oscar nominees - "Being the Ricardos" (directed by Aaron Sorkin) and "Parallel Mothers" (directed by Pedro Almodovar).
"Being the Ricardos" is the story of comedian Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez as they deal with a crisis in their career. Of course, Mr. Sorkin will add an element of the political in this seeming showbiz doc. No surprise there. And "Parallel Mothers" is another colorful and extraordinary story from Almodovar's career of extraordinary stories. Interestingly, it also has a dash of the political. Two films that are seemingly quite different, but with some interesting "parallels"... (hold for applause)... Thanks. Thanks so much!
We'll discuss the performances of the lead actresses in particular and what the "best acting" award really means. Obviously, we'll also be discussing WHAT ELSE we've been watching.
